Natural
The municipality of Cortes is one of the largest in the area, covering 17,000 hectares of land, hosting the natural parks of Alcornocales and Sierra Grazalema. Within the great forest of oaks found corners of dreams as the site of the Sauceda, a former settlement of bandits in the heart of cork, or the pit of Buitreras, Guadiaro in the river, to which we can access in three ways, none of them Easy railroad tunnels, by the river and the steep slopes, this unusual place where we can recreate its silence broken only by crows and the flutter of pigeons where we contemplate the pit of more than 100 m deep, is located near the township of El Colmenar near the hydroelectric station of the Buitreras. Missed are also Guadiaro Valley, the Sierra de los Pinos, the "canutos" Laueisilva the forest, with plants belonging to the tertiary, the Pool of the Queen and the Rock of Vulture.
Town Hall
It is an important building constructed in stone with beautiful neoclassical facade of court. Dates back to 1784 commissioned in the era of enlightenment by Carlos III funded with public money for pure civil architecture. In contemplating the facade with its two-story gallery consisting of five arches of half a point supported by stone pillars. At the core of the facade provides a triangular pediment centered on the clock and the actual coat.
Plaza de Toros.
The construction of the bullring dates from 1894 but was renovated in 1921, consolidating itself as one of the most important places of the Highlands, after the Round. The creation of this square in a town so small wine given by the major livestock in the locality, and since then held bullfighting festivals.
Casa de Piedra
As its name suggests is a house built in the interior of a large stone, its origin seems to lie between the ages VI and VII of the time Paleochristian. Highlights the work done by anonymous artists, so manual and craft, to enable the interior of this rock.
The Tower of Paso.
The tower is a tower Paso watchtower built during the Arab occupation in the thirteenth century whose purpose was to monitor the road that linked Gaucin, on the Puerto del Espino, with Jubrique.
Old cuts.
Located about four miles from Cortes was an important Roman settlement of the Arab and later still remains.
