Historia y situación

Júzcar township is located in the middle district of the Serrania de Ronda, in the part of the high Genal, Jarastepar near the peak of 1425 meters above sea level, limiting the towns of Estepona and Marbella. Because of their situation Júzcar geographical vegetation is very diverse, consisting of rock from the Sierra del Oregal, chestnuts and pine forests of the Sierra Bermeja; closest to the people we see scrub oak and pine trees that stretch along the pastures of Lomas and the Cerro del Jardón over 1000 meters high.

This terrain irregular shapes as the structure of the people, as many of the hills, its white houses on the hill are positioned together with each other, with large slopes and especially stand out the sawhorses vents in the roof of unequal height.

Júzcar possibly because it was a settlement of population before the season but there is no Arabic historical documents that show. On the face of the people is to assume that the Arabs if they gave importance to rural. It seems that after the Christian reconquest small cores from the area were depopulated by the expulsion of the Moors from the territory and people were grouped in what is now Júzcar and lifted the parish church in 1505.

Júzcar took an estimated relevance in the region to its jurisdiction belonged Faraján and appendages of Alcapana, Capanza, Moclón, The Factory and Los Molinos according to data from Pascual Madoz Dictionary in its geographical and historical statistics of Spain (1845-50),

Qué ver.

In Júzcar is famous, "the first tinplate factory in Spain." According to the statement of the book edited by Altos Hornos de Vizcaya. The choice of location was due to the wealth of timber in the mountainous area, essential for the charcoal needed in the foundry. The factory began production in mid-1731 under the name "The ever seen in Spain REAL FACTORY tinplate and its adherents, the reigning provided unbeaten Catholic monarchs and Don Felipe Reyes and V Dona Isabel Farnese," according to the inscription on the tombstone of the pediment of its facade. This factory was located at the side of the river, the place is now known as "The factory farm", also was engaged in secret work quarter of the tin. He gave work to about 200 permanent and temporary workers as in those times in Spain are not well acquainted with the work, they come to some thirty German workers whose command were two engineers Swiss Pedro Menrón and Emerico Dupasquier. The chronicles had to enter Spain illegally stuffed into barrels because of the existing ban to avoid competition, it also relates that the transport of goods are brought into camel directly by the government in Madrid. The factory tinplate who gave so much economic boost to the town closed because they can not compete with industry created in Asturias and the Basque Country.

Within the urban area the most striking building is the Parish Church of St. Catherine of the sixteenth century, to which he had to make reforms after the civil war. It is composed of a single nave roof level that remains hidden in a Mudejar armor.

And above all, one can not go through the corners which offers its natural environment, such as the Cave of the Moro River and the passage of Genal.

The recipes of traditional cuisine of Júzcar are made with natural products that offer their land as almonds, chestnuts, the olives, citrus, raisins and grapes. It is very similar to the cuisine of the Shire of the Serrania de Ronda, highlighting the crumbs, soups, cooked, the rabbit the garlic together with all the must also developed by the inhabitants of Júzcar.
