Pujerra is located 28 kilometers from Ronda and 150 from Malaga with a height of almost 800 meters above sea level. The river runs through this land Guadalmansa drifts in a deep valley through the Sierra Bermeja. From the north of the river Pujerra also happens to host its Genal step flow of the tributaries of Bentomiz and the Ivy.

There is little evidence documented that we talk about the origins of Pujerra. Let the delimitation of its steep, narrow streets that is the era of Arabic as its neighboring municipalities. What is known of this people is based on the legends told orally from generation to generation as they have on the Visigoth king Wamba.

According to some historians date the origin of the people in the second century found by

Some facades whose inscriptions are on the bricks with the monogram of Christ in Greek letters representing the initials of the name of Christ to lead the graves of the Christians of that era.

Pujerra also lived in the Christian reconquest, the rebellions of the Moors and

Expulsion later the same as in the rest of the territory of the Ronda. Of developments in Pujerra, documents are kept in the XVI, XVII and XVIII in the municipal file.

Qué ver.

Within Pujerra we find several sites missed.

The most important building in this town is the Church of the Holy Spirit of the sixteenth century small in scale. To highlight its facade in the steeple of the eighteenth century made up of two bodies and three fruitless corner doing very similar to that of the Hermitage of the Aurora in Malaga.

The village which is within the Sierra Pujerra Bermeja is a monument in itself

populated by beautiful chestnut. It is one of the steps required of the district for rondeña

access to the peoples of the coast, the center of the mountain range or the southern part of the region

since ancient times. Its urban design is typical of the Arab peoples of the entire area. With housing masonry facades with liming and Arab tiles located in steep, narrow streets.

And of course, the natural environment in which it is located at the High Genal, occupied by forests of chestnut trees that turn into pine forests as they descend into the valley.

One of the most popular places is the Mill Bridge on the way to Júzcar. Beside the ruins of the mill can see the most wonderful views offered by this locality. This site gives an ideal place in the summer months with the availability of water and shade by the presence of the river Genal and vegetation surrounding it.

Gastronomía

In Pujerra, gastronomy retains a long tradition in the wise way to combine the products offered land to diet depending on the season. So in winter we can taste the hot gazpacho, crumbs, in the spring dishes with wild herbs like targarinas, fennel, asparagus or collejas wheat and refreshing gazpacho in the summer.

The most typical dishes of the cuisine are the pot (of the family of cooked), the

pinchitada, the wort and posture. Inside the bakery we should not fail to prove their homemade roscos, fritters and the famous tostones.

Fiestas.

Pujerra patron of the festivals are held in June in honor of San Antonio de Padua. During the four days of festivities, the streets are filled with color and joy to

commemorate one of the most eagerly awaited seasons in the village. He also has held a festival in honor of this holy month of August to coincide with the Cultural Week of Pujerra.
